First period after getting a IUD

I got a IUD put in at the beginning of this month. I have been bleeding for 11 days now. It's not very heavy but it's too much to wear a mini mad so I have been wearing tampons but it's not very comfortable 😳 I'm just looking to see if anyone else had this problem for the first few months. The dr. said this IUD (Mirena) would make me stop my period all together.
