Doctor or midwife?

Question

Hi, it's my first pregnancy and I got an appointment set for my first visit with an obgyn but i happen to be unprepared and didn't do my research of doctors so they assigned me one and it's a midwife. Should I try and get a doctor to take care of me? I mean aren't midwifes kind of nurses that know stuff about delivery but have no medical school, can't administer drugs and so on?
I'm worried!

Midwives are better because you have less likelihood of unnecessary interventions and are less likely to need surgery. They know just as much as doctors about pregnancy/medications etc, they just can't do surgeries. I would keep the midwife if I were you!

I've had a midwife for all 3 of my pregnancies.  She is able to prescribe Meds,  and eventually do everything a doctor can do.  I had complications my last delivery and she pulled through like a champ.  She really saved my son's life! I primarily see a midwife for this pregnancy and just get "checked" by the doctor once a month.  Total he has spent 6 mins with me in the last 31 weeks.  My midwife feels like part of the family.  Give her a chance and I know you'll be presently surprised !!! Good luck 💖

I had midwifes and it was awesome ! They did what doctors can do and even prescribed me some meds would definitely recommend midwifes

I am 100% going with a midwife and NOT a doctor when I get pregnant! I had a preconception meeting when I had my IUD out and the nurse told me I was low risk, and if that's the case you're usually good to be able to have a midwife through the whole pregnancy and not even see a doctor!

I've been doing a lot of research on this subject and so glad I'm doing so before I'm pregnant!! It all comes down to what type of birth experience you want. Of course labor is unpredictable and things happen, but for me I want as calm and relaxing experience I can get, and with as little medical intervention as possible!
