Do you get really sick on the pill

I was told to take one to regulate my cycle but even the low dose makes me feel sick and depressed. (I never feel depressed of it... Ever) often on it I'll feel so angery I'll stay shaking at random times with no reason, and I mean literally no reason. For someone who is normally very emotionally balanced out was scary (whole new respect for conditions like bipolar caused by hormone issues)
