UTI while pregnant normal?

So I'm 6w1d. So I haven't had sex recently, I drink plenty of water. But today I've noticed it burns slightly when i pee. Also, I'm taking amoxicillin for a pilonidal cyst (booty bump. It sucks) if that helps with my case here. Maybe the antibiotic will take out the possible UTI throughout my treatment 🙄 but let me know!

UTIs are normal in pregnancy but you have to see a doc to get meds specific to the bacteria present. UTIs can pose a threat to the baby if turns into a kidney infection and with your immune system being suppressed in pregnancy the risks are higher.

It is common, but penicillins don't usually work well for utis, usually we prescribe sulfa based drugs...so if it's not getting better by Monday I would go see your OB.

Haha I didn't answer the poll because I'm not entirely sure what your question is there. UTI is common in pregnant. If you think you have a UTI you should call your dr asap (if left untreated they've been linked to preterm labor). As for using amoxicillin for a UTI... I believe most common UTIs are caused by e.coli. Amoxicillin is not effective against a lot of e.coli so they'll probably want to switch your antibiotic to cover both :)

Different antibiotics work on different kinds of bacteria. The antibiotics that you're on now may not work for the UTI. Check in with your doc.

I had a UTI so bad and I ended up at the hospital, they said a UTI can spread to your kidneys then harm your baby. Go to the doctors and they should prescribe you something
