Read Expecting Better - it discusses the studies in depth. The American studies contain drinkers and cocaine users when reviewing results. Having a glass of wine with dinner is much different than cocaine. In Europe limited red wine is accepted. Drink slowly, limit yourself to a glass, it's fine.

I'm having one glass of wine for my birthday on Memorial Day weekend. I probably won't even finish it. That's the extent of my drinking my whole pregnancy. I'm just too scared to have one frequently even though they say it's ok.

Yep. One glass. My OB actually brought it up and said it's perfectly okay and that there are health benefits to drinking a glass of red wine per day. I won't because I'm paranoid (I don't even take the meds they offer for my horrible morning sickness), but even though I'm nuts I know it's perfectly okay.
