Siblings helping with a new baby?

Question

For those who have more then one child already, what are their ages, and how do they help with your youngest child? I have a 5.5yo, and baby #2 due in October. One thing I think will be nice is having another child to help entertain a baby. I don't have expectations of help beyond that, but I am curious to know how your kids help care for each other in your house.

My 7 year old daughter will entertain, feed, help with bath and brushing hair, will grab things we need (clean diapers, blanket, boppy pillow, etc), read, give baby pacifier, talk to baby in the car (and give back pacifier), check on baby while she's napping, etc.

She loves being a big sister. They are 2 days shy of being 7 years apart.

I have 5 children. 4 boys, ages 2, 3, 5, and 7. Their baby sister is 8 weeks old. Each child has helped with the next child to come into the family.

7 yo: holds or lays with the baby, feeds her, is learning to change her diapers, keeps an eye on her when I'm not in the room
5 yo: holds her with supervision, feeds her, grabs diapers and wipes
3 yo: grabs diapers and wipes, finds pacifiers and blankets, helps hold bottles, takes diapers to the trash
2 yo: grabs diapers and wipes, finds pacifers, takes diapers to the trash

I have a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old.  My older one throws (wet) diapers away, puts clothes in the laundry basket, gets diapers/wipes, toys, etc...  He also entertains his little brother quite a bit.  He really likes feeding him, too, but that isn't really a break since I have to watch him ;).

My step daughter was too young to help with her younger sister from her mom but she helps her aunt on her mom's side with her little cousin. My step daughter has this natural instinct to be motherly with babies and she has always been that way since she was young about 3 years old. She is 7 now and loves babies and wants me to have a baby so she can have a sibling with us. She got jealous when her step sister, who is older than her, got a brother a few years ago. I swear she got baby fever for me to have a baby and she wants a brother so bad. Without a doubt she will be so helpful when we have a baby and i plan on letting her help because she is great with babies. I love seeing her be so loving and caring and helpful.

7 y old and 11 y old (in their stepmomma) when I met them they were 4 and 8, at that time the oldest was very helpful with the little one. But now she won't do anything anymore for her little sister cause "she's old enough to do it herself" according to her 😂
