Has anyone seen the Netflix documentary, "The Business of Being Born?" If so, what did you think?

I absolutely hate how biased it is.

I really enjoyed the movie. But I also believe it to be very biased. I have watched it twice now and it has made me think and research a lot of things. Hubby and I discussed home birth or birthing center and ultimately decided to stick with my ob who has been my gyno since 2009. 
I think it pushed a little too hard that there is one right way to do things. But I think the movie was also great at making people challenge things and ask more direct questions. 
Like any movie, it's a story from one person's perspective. Let it make you think, but I wouldn't form all my opinions off of one thing. 
I recommend watching it to those who haven't, just a watch with both and open but skeptical mind.

Keep in mind this is also based on US hospitals. It is a business in the states when you compare it to Europe or even Canada.
Look at the huge differences in care between countries and c-section rates. It's staggering.

It's awesome! There is also another called More Business of Being Born that's really good too. Really made me want to have a home birth but my husband is not down for that lol. It did reinforce my opinions about unmedicated childbirth though and I was super confident about it going into the birth of my daughter. Honestly can't wait to do it again with this baby 😊

I agree with the medicine cycle. I loved the medicine cycle threw my birth. I ended up with a c section.

Open and rack up your bill. I was the one that called quits after 6hrs of no dilation past 5cm. They wanted to wait another 2hrs. I had an awesome staff willing to help me do it vaginaly. Trying to make my natural birth plan work. It didn't. My son was born the way he was always meant to be born.

It made me wish I'd seen it before my son was born. His birth was exactly what the movie described. They were not concerned for me or my birth plan, they wanted me out. My son was born after 36 hours of unnecessary labor and an emergency cesarean. I'll never go back to that hospital. My daughter is being born as much on my terms as I can get, considering I have complete placenta previa.

I've watched it twice now. Once by myself and once with my fiancé. It's highly enlightening and I recommend it to all women, pregnant or ttc.

I have had 3 hospital births and have had positive experiences. I've never felt like they've pushed unnecessary interventions on me. I've also had unexpected emergencies arise despite my very normal pregnancies to where the baby might not have survived if I were at a birthing center, there would not have been enough time to get me to the hospital. I am very holistic, but women and babies used to die in child birth quite frequently, my grandmother lost a baby in childbirth that likely would have survived via modern medicine today. There are bad eggs everywhere of course. But find a local Facebook group for moms, ask who their doctor is and who to avoid, ask which hospital they delivered in and if they were happy or not. If your doctor suggests something, ask. My sil had a c section and to this day is so bitter about it, she assumes the dr was just impatient so called the c section. I asked her, did you ask the dr why he called the c section?  She said the dr said her cervix was too swollen... but she doesn't think that's enough of a reason to c section and the dr was just trying to rush her. I asked her if she asked the dr any questions at the time or afterwards to understand her condition and the Dr's decision more and she said no. She's just mad about it and assumes the worst. It's important to understand what's happening to your body and why your dr is advising an intervention....always ask and understand!

I thought it was interesting. I ended up having a csection with my son and it made me think about what I went through. It makes sense though. It is always good to see other perspectives and do some extra research. Definitely fascinating.
