*UPDATE* Castor Oil - What happened after you took it?

How much did you take and how long did it take for it to work for you?
*I understand there are women that say don't. I have not taken any, I just want to hear from women that have tried it. Just looking to read experiences.
**I AM NOT ONLY LOOKING FOR "GOOD" EXPERIENCES, BUT *REAL* EXPERIENCES!! If you have not tried it, I don't want to hear from you.

Idk why but every time I see someone posting about Castro oil and labor I picture the mom with explosive diarrhea pushing baby out and spraying dr and nurse....hopefully this isn't reality but this is what goes through my mind lol 😂😂💩😷

Please just don't. Stimulant Laxatives are not safe. Castor oil is a stimulant laxative. It's use risks your health and your baby's life. Impatience isn't a good reason to risk your child's life...there will never be a good reason to risk your child's life.

You only want to read the great experiences but you dont want to know the harsh reality of this nasty stuff. Its dangerous and at its least will cause you severe diarrhea/vomitingnand cramps, which in turn will severely dehydrate you and put you both at a serious risk. If you wish to be selfish go ahead but il tell you straight up how it is.... gut wrenching , stomach churning, as you stand and tell the mother her baby has grown wongs and will be flying high but not going home in her arms. This stuff can be fatal to baby. Is it worth risking?? Those whom did it are lucky if they didnt harm theirself or baby. Yes my words might be harsh and blunt but trust me you need to leave this ahit alone and let your baby come when ready because at least youll both be safe and going home together.

Ugh, she didn't ask for opinions, she asked people who have taken it for their stories.

I took it with my son at 39 weeks because I had signs of preeclampsia and didn't want to be induced. I was 1cm dilated at my appointment a few days before. I took 2oz of Castor Oil and chased it with Grapefruit juice around 6pm. Nothing happened. Around 10pm, I took another oz with Dr. Pepper (the taste is horrible, I recommend mixing it into a smoothie or milkshake). I had a few contractions, and used the bathroom 2x (not diarrhea, but definitely cramping like diarrhea). My husband got home from work around 3am and woke me up on accident, and I noticed my contractions had become more intense. I couldn't fall back asleep, so I decided to clean the house, pack hospital bags (just in case- I knew it was labor), and took a hot shower. We left for the hospital at 11am, I was 3cm when I got there, and progressed to 4cm by the time my doctor got there 30 minutes later. He went ahead and broke my water (because of the risk of preeclamsia) and I had my son 12 hours later.

I don't recommend it, unless you have your doctors consent (I did) and you stay hydrated. But I'm confident this is why I went into labor. I'm going to try naturally with this baby, but if the topic of medical induction comes up, I may try it again to avoid pitocin.

Lol I tried it the way it was recommended to me - mixed with orange juice. Only it DIDNT "mix" and after a few swallows I wanted to die. Its horrible, terrible, nasty.

#1 100% not until you are full term.
#2 kind of disgusting. Can you imagine being in labor or having your baby while having diarrhea all over the place. 
#3 works by making you severely dehydrated. I don't know if you've been dehydrated in your pregnancy but it's one of the reasons you can get Braxton hicks
That's how it works. 
#4 the contractions you may get make make some change to your cervix but won't be very effective and will stop when you are rehydrated.

I guess for me this would be a last resort. Try safer techniques like sex exercise or nipple stimulation. I dunno how far you are but if your not overdue give your body a chance by itself.
