grandparents names
Hi everyone!
So I'm 20 weeks pregnant with a little girl! I'm Russian but speak fluently in both languages (have been here since being a baby) my DH is American. With my parents I speak Russian and with my hubby and his family I speak English. My hubby and I both want our daughter to speak both languages. Now here is our little problem.
His mom and step dad want the step dad to be called papa (not grandpa) the problem we have with it is that in Russian papa means dad. (This is what I call my dad when speaking in Russian.) Since our daughter will be learning to speak both languages we don't want her calling someone else dad, even if it is in another language.
We haven't spoken to them about it yet, but it is definitely something that bothers us. Should we say something? And if so any suggestions on how to talk to them. (My MIL is the type of person you have to walk on egg shells around if you get what I mean. She is the one that wants her husband to be called papa, I don't think he cares that much)
Thanks everyone!! 😊💕
