My daughter had this same exact thing out of nowhere and we had just received some hand me down shorts that I put on her for literally a few mins to see if they fit! It took a good 24 hours to clear up. I'm betting it's from some sort of soap/detergent. Even new clothes? A dye or something?

Me and my niece have something very much like this. The doctor said it's a viral rash and will go away by itself. Absolutely get it checked though
