What was your scheduled c-section experience like?

How did the day progress, what did they do to you, how long did it take to get baby out, when did you hold baby, etc?! Also, do you have to be induced/go into labor when you have a scheduled c-section? Thanks!

I had one because my son was breeched. Was told to call the hospital at 4AM. But didn't actually get to go until 2PM and they said we had to be there in 20 minutes 😒

Anyways, went in. Got admitted and hooked up to IVs and things. They wheeled me off to the OR, gave me an epidural, attempted an ECV which obviously failed and went straight into the C-section.

I honestly don't remember seeing or holding my son for the first time. I was so out of it. Last thing I remember is them giving me morphine because I could feel them stitching me up and then telling me it was going to make me itchy. Itchy was DEFINITELY an understatement!

But I had a good experience. I was walking around that night.

To answer your questions (since I could write a novel about my experience!)
My c-section was scheduled for 8:30 am, but it was so busy in L&D that day that I didn't have mine done until 6:30 pm.
I never went into labor, and they didn't try to induce me. I had a c-section because my son was breech and the hospital does not vaginally deliver breech babies.
I ended up going into the hospital at 10:30 am (they had called early in the morning telling me there were delays), and I basically sat in bed, hooked up to an IV and monitors for about 8 hours. It was really boring and uncomfortable, but I had my iPad and my husband so it wasn't too bad. 
I was prepped for the OR around 6 pm, and my son was pulled out at 6:51 pm. The rules of hospital stated that he had to be examined by the pediatric specialists before I could hold him, so it was after both of his APGARs (after about 5 min) that I finally saw him.
I was able to breastfeed him right away while getting stitched up!
My recovery was fairly easy, I was only in the hospital about a day and a half. I had a catheter in for 24 hours, but once I was able to get up and walk around and use the bathroom on my own, I was free to go home.

Gentle csections seem like a really wonderful experience. I have a few friends who had scheduled csections and had gentle csections. They loved it.

I've had two scheduled c sections and I'm going to have a 3rd. You have some freedom to ask for what you want. My c section was first thing in the morning.. so I had a full nights sleep before. It took some time to get checked in, paperwork, start IV.. but once surgery actually started baby was out in maybe 15 min.. and I was holding baby 4 min later. Nursing maybe an hour later

Mine was scheduled at 930am, i got there at 730am and went in with my husband, they asked me a bunch of questions and went over my blood work then gave me the iv and waited until they had a room ready for me. I went into the room without my husband until they gave me the spinal, the spinal wasnt as bad as a i thought and i felt coldness from stomach down. They laid me down and i instantly felt really lightheaded and nauseous then my husband came in and they started the surgery and i felt alot of pressure and it was very uncomfortable and i wanted to move but obviously couldnt. It took about 15min or less for them to get my daughter out and then an additional 20min or so to stitch me up. I got to hold my baby right after they wheeled me into recovery. After an hour i was put into my room and got to have visitors. I was terrible tired and nauseous the whole day and i don't remember too much. I was up and walking that night as well. The 2nd and 3rd day were the worst i was in a lot of pain and barely was able to get out of bed.
