Will you introduce your baby to a soother/pacifier?

I'm of two minds... I have been told that it can be a life saver and an incredible comfort to the child. But I have also been told it is an incredibly difficult habit to break. Has anyone used a soother with their child that can drop their opinions and suggestions in the comments? Does anyone swear by them? Regret using them? Thanks in advance :)

I'd rather give my child a pacifier than her/him end up being a thumb sucker, you can take away the paci, you can't cut off the thumb😉

Have all my babies pacis from day one. And like another poster said, way easier to take that away than a thumb or finger

My first refused a pacifier and don't suck her thumb either. My second used a pacifier for his first month and now refuses it. He sucks on his thumb now.

My first rarely took one and stopped on her own taking it by 6 months. My second was sooo attached to hers. It was definitely her security/comfort item. We finally got rid of it at 3 years old super late in my opinion but like I said she was very attached. However once taken away she asked for it a few times then completely forgot about it.

I tried. My son took it from day three to about three weeks and decided he didn't want anything to do with it anymore. He's currently 4 months and still won't take one. It didn't interfere with breastfeeding while he took it.

I tried but my daughter wouldn't take one she would spit it right out. Same with bottles 😩 only nursing calmed her down . I'm gonna try to get this baby to take a paci

We did four days with no issues. Daughter spit it out at 6 months and wanted nothing to do with it

I have 4 kids including a set of twins none of them sucked pacifiers nor sucked there thumbs

My first sucked a passy and it was only a certain one we had ever more hell breaking her from the passy she was 3 and we threw them all away and that night at 11:00 we had to drive 1 and a half hours to get one but my other 2 didn't and I would try to give them one instead of them using me as a passy and they never would go for it.

With my son we just did nap time and bed time with binky. It didn't effect breastfeeding either.
