Another post of mine really made me think about this.

I made a post in CC about parents going through their child's rooms and if people thought it was okay.

The responses kind of baffled me to be honest.

"My house my rooms"

"They don't pay bills"

"You can't trust kids these days"

"I will do random checks of all of their things"

I don't get it.

Why have children with this mentality? Some of you try so hard to have a baby and then what? Once they're a teen who is trying to figure out their life you can no longer trust them and you become suspicious of everything they do?

- Children deserve privacy too. They are a human being with rights just like you. Them being younger shouldn't change that.

- No shit they can't pay bills. They're children. When you signed up to be a parent, you made a promise to care for that child for 18 years and supply them with everything they need. They shouldn't have to pay for things to call them theirs.

- Going through your children's things randomly and without cause is going to make them feel as though you don't trust them. When they don't feel trusted, they're just going to hide more things from you 🤷🏻‍♀️

Be careful how you treat your children. I've been there done that. My dad didn't trust anything I did and he disrespected my privacy by going through my things all the time. I now have anxiety because of this. It's not right.

*now I'm not talking about those who have reasonable suspicion to go through their child's rooms. Go for it. I'm talking about the kind of people who left responses like above*
