Tanning and cultural appropriation

Bella

Why do you think fake tanning is subject to cultural appropriation. ? I personally don't agree with it. Tell me your thoughts

Edit : I don't agree with claiming fake tanning is cultural appropriation.

Orange isn't a race, so if anyone would be offended it wouldn't be POC. Perhaps you should have a conversation with our current president.

If a spray tan is orange it's a shitty one. You can go to a Versa Spa booth or have one done by a professional and it look completely natural

If they are white and masquerading as dark skinned that is black face/brown face. It's offensive as shit.

I don't think tanning itself is appropriation but if these people are tanning themselves to look like a poc than that's another thing entirely.Black face is racist af even if it's for "art" or "appreciation" 😒

completely agree!

I don't think anyone has said it's cultural appropriation? Maybe you are getting confused with melanin injections which are pretty racist and stem from fetishizing certain races.

Not unless natural tanning is appropriation as well 🙄 I was given fair skin that will not tan (don't even offer tips, I've tried them all) under any circumstance so spray tanning is my only option. If someone thinks my spray tan is appropriating them they'll just have to get over it 🤷🏼‍♀️

That literally makes no sense tho? Most people can tan and fake tan is just trying to make u look like that without the sun.. what a reach

I didn't know a "healthy glow" was appropriation lol I would consider it a cultural norm or projected view on beauty b4 appropriation. Now the extreme tan people who do it to look black like tanning injections to the point they're 50 shades darker that's considerably appropriation imo🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Tanning isn't offensive (not a smart thing to do- but not offensive) as long as you stay within the normal range for your skin tone.

Why do people even like to tan is my question
