In a country where universities aren't free, do you think there should be full ride scholarships or everyone should pay the same?

I agree with scholarships. Kids that get them usually work thier butt off. All kids could work their butt off but they don't. If it is there for all it is equal. To make everyone pay bc some kids don't try to do good in school is not fair. Those kids had the same opportunity to work hard n get a scholarship as the others. They chose not to.

Definitely. My husband came from a dirt poor family and worked his ass off in high school for his free ride in college. He slept 3-4 hours a night tops because he was up so late writing scholarship essays, the never ending work for AP classes (high school classes that give college credit), and everything else plus working. He gets $30,000 a year in scholarships and grants which pay his tuition and fees, and leaves us about $17,000 for living expenses. He deserves it. He wouldn't have been able to go to college without it

I'm of the unpopular opinion that everyone isn't college material. I am from a extremely low income family. I got a free ride to all of the colleges I applied to because of my grades and test scores. I worked my butt off to prove I was smart enough to deserve college.

I didn't get a full ride scholarship but I did receive a very significant one when I started university. I worked incredibly hard in high school and spent a lot of time on the essay for the scholarship application. And to maintain my scholarship in university I was expected to maintain an A- average- which I did. Scholarships are a way to fund your education. They're also many different types of scholarships l. Mine was academic merit, but you can get ones based on financial need (usually a bursary though), sports, leadership, etc. They help fund your education which is very expensive. So why would scholarships be a bad thing? They're helping people that care to apply, that work hard and excel in a certain area of their life. They're not stopping anyone else from getting an education and as long as you make the requirements (and usually that just means you need to work harder or get involved with certain activities) then anyone can apply for them. They're an amazing way to help reduce the financial burden of an education.

A free ride aka "full scholarship" is given to those who excel above the rest. In terms of sports, you are one of the best. In terms of education, you are one of the smartest. If you get both, you're just pretty good. I can't imagine why a full scholarship shouldn't be given to someone who deserves it.

The people who get scholarships are those who work their butts off in school to earn the best grades they can so they deserve it. One thing my dad was told along time ago by someone who went to college and was in  charge of hiring where he used to work at his first job is half the time when people who are hiring you all they see is you graduated not your grades and you could be hiring someone with a college degree thats a slacker and made it by with D's but they are presumed better because they have a college degree. My dad never went to college and this guy hired him just because he thought my dad was a good fit to learn the business at 16 years old and turns out my dad learned alot in his field by experience and knows more than half of those that went to college to learn this stuff he even knows more than his managers. The managers are only managers because of the fact they went to college. Not everyone is entitled to their postion or what they get including when it comes to college. And those that dont have the money for college and depend on the scholarship and worked their butts off for it definitely deserve it.
