How often do you get ultrasounds?

This is my first and I'm worried the doctors aren't checking things for me since I don't "seem like a risk". We have had 2 visits so far, 7 weeks (no ultrasound just pee sample) and 10 weeks (ultrasound and pee sample) and everything is fine. Next appointment scheduled for 14 weeks and they said no ultrasound again. Then why am I going? Just to chat? How do they know if anything changed or happened if they don't check on the baby? Am I expecting too much? I just don't know how it's supposed to go but I feel like I think about nothing but seeing my baby again and they said next ultrasound is between 18/20 weeks which is the end of June and feels like ages to check on my baby again.

I only had two as well. One in the first trimester and my anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I won't have anymore. But they do measure my uterus and listen to the heartbeat as well as check vitals so it's definitely not a waste of time to go to the appointments.

I had one at 7 weeks, 21 weeks and my next is at 32 weeks after that it's up to my dr to decide if I'll need more..

they like to see you every 4 weeks to check the baby's heart rate, answer any questions you may have and to see how you are feeling. Honestly it's like a 10 minute appt.

Around 20 weeks they will start to measure your belly to make sure your uterus is growing. Around 28 weeks you'll start to see the dr every 2 weeks and then around 32 weeks they'll start checking to see if you're dilating. They will probably send you for blood work around 26-28 weeks..

Also, don't be surprised if you see every dr and nurse practitioner that is in your practice (if there are more than one).. they do this so you can get to know the other drs because it may not be guaranteed that your dr will be the dr to deliver..

My doctors will only give me two the entire pregnancy. They check for the heartbeat at other appointments. If they can't find the heartbeat they will do an ultrasound to check. I go to a different clinic that I pay $50 out of pocket for an ultrasound. I love seeing my little one so I can't wait either. Just find another place to go that can just do an ultrasound that you can afford :)

They generally do a scan every trimester (between 2-3 scans) unless something raises concerns. If you're only getting the regular number of scans, relax. It means your baby is progressing normally.

This is exactly what's happening with me. My 14 week appointment was to meet my actual doctor and hear heart beat...and my next ultrasound will be at 20 weeks. I know exactly how you feel...people keep asking me how baby is and I don't know why I'm supposed to say!

Checking urine is important and can indicate issues, listening to the heart beat is a good way to see that baby is okay. They are also the to answer any questions and track weight gain too.

I've had two. One at 9 weeks to "date" the pregnancy and one at 19 weeks for our anatomy scan. That's it. Unless we pay out of pocket somewhere else. All of my appointments after 13 weeks have just been checkups. They get the doppler out and check his heartbeat for a few seconds and discuss any questions I have, as well as prepare me for what's to come in my future appointments. If they have no reason to be concerned it's not medically necessary to have an ultrasound at every appointment.

Every person in my area who has had a baby has not had a scan until around 20 weeks when they did the anatomy scan. I had surgery the cycle before I got pregnant and I was taking Femara so they had me come in for bloodwork, a scan at 5 and then a scan at 7 weeks. This is definitely not the norm. I like my doctors appts more than the scans because the sonographers can't say much and I always have so many questions for my doctor. They also should let you hear the heartbeat each time. I have to give a urine sample each time I'm there to make sure there's no infections. I've been getting headaches when I bend over so doctor sent me for bloodwork to check my thyroid to be sure last time I saw him. I don't think these appts are a waste of time or just to chat. Try to relax... I hated that I had to get scans even though I loved seeing my baby. I always felt like there was something really risky happening and it's scary to be that closely monitored when my friends who went through this weren't.
