Scar tissue on cervix

Today my doctor told me that I have significant scarring on my cervix. She said it feels as though I've had an operation on it, but I haven't. She said it could make it difficult to dilate, and she will likely consider stripping my membranes around 38 weeks. Does anyone know what this could mean for labor and delivery? Should I worry, or am I just being a paranoid ftm?
