Is it necessary to go to the postpartum visit?

Is it really necessary to go to the 6 week postpartum check up? I'm not going to have sex until 6+ weeks anyway. I just really don't want to go to the post partum visit. I had a really rough birthing experience and I never want someone to touch my vagina again lol.I don't think I will be having sex with my husband any time soon either so I'm not really worried about hemorrhaging and we will be using condoms as birth control. What do you think? Was your check up really important?
*also I have been recovering amazingly well and haven't had any pain and bleeding stopped a while ago

Yes, you really need to go. It's important for the doctor to be able to check that you've healed properly, that your uterus is back to its original size and that your cervix has closed back up. It's uncomfortable, but it's pretty fast.

Just go. It's not going to be that bad. I felt the same way (didn't want anyone down there at all), but doctor checked to see if everything was healing properly, etc.

Yes you should go I felt the same way but I had to go not because there was something going on just because I didn't want to risk anything. If you had to get stitches they have to make sure that they are all healing properly, they could not be and you might not feel pain or know but it could mess up the stuff down there and they also have to check like in there to make sure stuff is going back to the way it was which you might not feel if it's not and it could lead to problems later. It's honestly just better to get it over with even if there isn't anything wrong because in the slight chance there is it could cause really bad pain later and be harder to fix.

Yeah. Definitely go. They do a pap smear. It's not likely but my friend Katy found out she had a rare form of cervical cancer and it killed her in two years. She had no symptoms or signs and wouldn't have known about it if she didn't go and get the test. Also if you aren't healing properly you would probably want to know.
