Do I really look that old?

I'm 17 and It seems everywhere I go people are always just assuming that I'm older than what I am. I have a younger sister with a big age gap and people just assume that she's my child. Sometimes people are not mean when they ask but sometimes people can be extremely rude and openly judge me. Am I the only person who goes through this? (This is me)

I'm eighteen, my significant other is twenty one, and my little sister is four. People openly assume that my man and I are married, and that my sister is our child. Whenever we bring her out in public with us, there's always someone who makes this assumption, and tells us how cute our daughter is.

Last year, we brought my sister to Disney World with my parents. One of the photographers at the parks said, "Let's do one with the little girl and her mom!" and looked at me expectantly. When my mom said that she was actually her daughter, the photographer laughed, rolled his eyes, and said "Yeah, okay."

I wouldn't consider myself to look much older than I am. I honestly think I look younger. However, I think in today's society we're so used to teenagers and young adults having children that people make these assumptions without even thinking.

I have the opposite problem I'm 26 and people think I'm 18 or 19.  I know it's annoying on this end so I'm sure it's the same on that end.  I don't think you look older than 17 though.  Maybe people asking about your sister being your child are trying not to seem judgemental (even though it's not their business to ask in the first place) and don't want to assume she isn't yours.  Teen pregnancy is on the rise right now and they could not want to make you feel bad about being a young mother?  I'm not sure really because you really don't look any older than 17 to me.

When i was 11 people used to think was 18! I have a little brother with a big age gap too so I know what you mean when sometimes it can get awkward. But now im 23 and people still think I look 18... its like my face never changed. Haha. Take it as a compliment and embrace it! Youre beautiful!

Some people just don't have empathy. My good friend is 4 foot 8 and she is 28, has two kids and the looks she gets are amazing!
