How do you tell a man you don't like his kid? 🤦🏼‍♀️

This sounds very childish and I can promise you it has nothing to do with jealousy or attention. The child's mother is very ignorant and belligerent and very disrespectful and I feel like their daughter is very self entitled and very rude. For an example I had a miscarriage in the past and I'm assuming her mother said something because me and her dad never even talk about it. And the little girl just said "well I told my mommy to get something for the baby but he's dead now so I told her not to do it" and her dad repeatedly asks her not to even talk about that. Maybe I'm just emotional plus I just had a baby. But I definitely want to say something about it.

I don't think you all stand a chance in a relationship if you don't like his kids. I'm not saying whether or not your feelings or wrong but it's going to be challenging I think being in a relationship when one person isn't fond of their significant others child. And maybe your wording was wrong. You dislike some of the child's ways perhaps? Which should be addressed

Part of being in a relationship is honesty and you should be able to talk to him about it. I wouldn't say "I don't like your kid" I'd be more like "it kinda bothers me that so-and-so..." and just talk to him about it that way

You can't tell him you don't like his kid. Try to pinpoint a specific behavior and say it worries you or bother you. Expect him to get protective. That's his baby you're talking about.

Yeah I wouldn't tell him. I would just try and do your best to be an example of a kind and thoughtful person. It's not her fault I her main example of a woman is rude. Empathy is taught.

Have you considered that his daughter might be emotional about the miscarriage? I don't think telling her to just not talk about it is helpful. There is no way to tell your partner that you don't like his kid without coming off as the evil step mom.

You have to speak up. It just depends on how you go about it. That type of behaviour is never okay . Even for child who is taught that way by a poor parent. The other poster telling you not to say anything or address it clearly has no idea about child development . I would talk to a therapist about this as it's a sensitive issue - maybe after addressing it, family counselling could help. ❤

I say speak up and let him know that you don't want him sharing any of your business with her mother and that her mother shouldn't be discussing something like that with a child anyway. Then I'd go on to say that you don't appreciate how she talks to you and that he needs to speak with her about it and tell her to stay in a child's place. Tell him to take action. But most parents wouldn't think anything of it especially since she's a child, but we all have met that one child 😡. Also, most parents won't stay with a person who doesn't like their child, well at least that goes for me. GOODLUCK mama

I'm sorry for your loss. How old is your stepdaughter? I ask that because I missed carried when my son was 4 yrs old and when we told him the baby died he didn't quite get it. He would sometimes come up to me a bluntly say things that hurt but he isn't quite to the age where he has learned empathy compassion or the sense that what you say will hurt others. The brain develops in its own time and you can't hold it against a child if they are not developmental there yet.
