Jocelyn

I woke up on the morning of my due date with the urge to go to the bathroom around 10:30 am. As I was walking to the toilet I had fluid leaking down my legs & I had my "bloody show". I called my mom & told everyone I think my water had broken, I took a shower, got ready, did the dishes & an hour later I was in the car on the way to the hospital & already my period like cramps were turning into stronger, closer together contractions. I got to the hospital around 11:45 & they hooked me up to monitors & did a swab to check if it was my water & I was contracting every 2-4 minutes already. My cervix was so posterior every exam was so painful but I was only at a 3. So they had me walk around for an hour, & as I was walking the contractions started to get worse & stronger to the point where I couldn't walk anymore. We went back to triage around 2pm & they called my doctor & decided to admit me. I got into my hospital room & they sent in the anesthesiologist to give me my epidural right away. (Best thing ever) I then labored all day & naturally progressed on my own pretty well. I then went from a 3 to a 6 in about 2 hours, & then they hooked me up to pitocin & only had to leave it on a level 2. The doctor came in to break my water around 6pm & when it was broken we realized baby had pooped in me because it was a brown color. Then around 8 pm I was only a 7, but by 10pm I was a 9. When she told me I was dilated to a 9 I started crying because I was starting to get scared. Then I started to feel unbelievable pressure in my bottom & I was then dilated to a 10 when she checked me an hour later but babies head was still high. So we waited about another hour, & I started to push baby's head from station 0 to station 1. Then around 11:30 pm, the doctor came in & things really started to happen. I started to push at 11:45 pm but Baby was so big & my hips were so narrow I couldn't get him out myself & he was starting to get distressed so they were using the vaccum to get him out. Once his head was out it turned really hectic & scary because his shoulders got stuck & the doctor started yelling for scissors. She had to break his collar bone to be able to get him out of me. Next thing I know someone jumped on top of my belly & she was yelling & screaming at everyone to push! She then hiked up her leg & was trying everything in her power to pull that big boy out. 2 mins & a ton of pressure later my baby boy was out & put on me. 12:10 am 9 pounds & 4 ounces & 21 & 3/4 inches long! My little tank!! Born 10 minutes past his due date! He came out so limp & not crying & they rushed him to start trying to get him to breathe. As I was getting stitched up due to a second degree tear I was waiting what felt like forever to hear him cry & I knew something was wrong. Baby boy swallowed the meconium he let out in me & was having respiratory problems so they had to take him to the nicu. We both had fevers & infections & he's still there on oxygen & a feeding tube. His blood sugar is stable today & his coloring looks better but it's killing me not to be able to have baby right by my side. I just want him to get better soon so we can all go home together!! Overalll I had a good, smooth labor until the very end, because they didn't realize how big he was going to be. I've never experienced love at first sight until I laid my eyes on him. He's so beautiful & was worth every bit of the "I can't do it" feeling I was having towards the end. Welcome to this world baby Theo 💙
