My doctor doesn't believe anyone is pregnant before 8 weeks?

Tell your doctor you're going to binge drink and chain smoke until your 8 week appointment because technically you're  "not pregnant yet."

I.e please get another doctor

You are considered pregnant after your first missed period in my mind. You are needing to protect yourself and your unborn from harmful medications, foods and other things. 
You are already getting symptoms as well. Your dr sounds old school and stubborn.

Thanks for the replies. I made the poll.  My doctor has treated me awfully,  going so far as to lose my blood work after telling me I need to come in to get my blood work done so she can monitor my Hcg every single week because she thinks it's high risk because of a recent miscarriage. I called to see if my hcg levels had doubled since last week only to get hung up on and then I called back and they forwarded me to the PA who said angrily  "you pregnant.  Blood test positive." I beg your pardon?  I told her this was not why I was calling.  I asked for my hcg numbers today and they hung up on me again,  despite me trying to be polite and patient.  I was told there is 20% I will lose the baby.  She won't even prescribe me prenatal vitamins or treat me as a pregnant patient.  She dismissed me and basically told me my hcg levels mean little and she will check if I am really pregnant at 8 weeks.  My heart is broken.  I don't feel pregnant even though the hundreds of tests I peed on say I am and the blood work says I am.  She told me I am high risk and left me with uncertainty.  She refused to answer questions as well.  I am at a lost.  I can't celebrate or plan for a baby because she robbed me of that.  I am stuck wondering when my baby is going to die. My husband and I haven't grasped the mistreatment yet because we feel so sad.  I am a mess because I don't feel like a pregnant woman.  They treat me like a ticking time bomb. I am trying not to become angry at them,  but I believe this is wholly unprofessional and borderline neglectful.

My sister in law has had several miscarriages - her words to me were that "pregnant is pregnant". Even at 5 weeks you're growing a baby so I'd definitely say you're pregnant!
