Playing God?

Question

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was just able to successfully grow a lamb outside of its mothers womb, in an artificial womb! Meaning that they grew a premature lamb, and grew it to full term in the artificial womb. Their hopes are to use them for preemies. Some scientists are seriously frowning upon this saying that you're either born, or you're not. You can't be half-birthed. There was also made mention, with technological advances, being able to implant babies in the artificial wombs at conception.

With this technology, along with the ability to clone, do you think we are getting too close to playing God? At what point do we let nature take its course?

UPDATE: They addressed that no baby earlier than 23 weeks gestation would be able to utilize this artificial womb (if it ever became available to humans).

I'm thinking of all the mommies who have lost their babies because they came out a little too soon... I don't see this advance in medicine as "playing God", I see it as a way to save these little lives and give preemie moms hope. It's basically just a more advanced incubator that better mimics the womb, really.

People only tend to bring up "playing god" when something doesn't affect them and/or frightens them.

I mean, are bandaids also playing god because they help stop bleeding? God intended for that cut to bleed so let it bleed!!!

I think God gave us science. This will bee great for families who need it, or fathers if the mother doesn't want the baby and the father does, or for high risk pregnancy. 
   
People said terrible things about IVF and now it helps so many people.

I don't believe in God. I also don't believe science is "playing" anything, certainly not a fictitious man in the sky.

Science is life saving. This is an opportunity for micro preemies to have a chance. NOT just have a chance, but grow as they would in the womb which would lead to better recovery, less instances of issues with brain development, less NICU time, and a baby who would then meet milestones timely. Many of these micropreemies spend their first year of life in the nicu away from working parents and hooked up to tubes. This would allow then baby to finish gestation, artificially but closer to the normal human experience. That means when baby hit 40'weeks gestation, baby would be much more likely to come home like a "normal" child. I say yes. Yes yes yes. Let's not let someone else's God prevent this life saving opportunity.

I don't see how someone could argue this is playing god, but hooking them up to tubes for the first few weeks isn't? My point is we already have medical intervention for preemies, rightfully so. So why not make that process better and give them an even better chance. It's not ethical to be like "oh, your child is a preemie? Too bad, sorry can't help." Plus any medical intervention could arguably be "playing god". We don't just let diabetics die, we give them insulin and every year they come out with new ways to make their pumps and so forth better.

I'm curious on how would it work in regards to preemies.  I get  the whole womb thing, but there  is a different of growing  from scratch,  and growing in the middle. As in, how if once they  take their first breath of air, to now be in back  in a womb like atmosphere?

Then wouldn't fertility treatments be 'playing god'? And life saving medicines (such as chemo)? And surgeries in general, wouldn't they be 'playing god'? This is part of the reason I can't stand religions lol.

I don't think it's playing god. I don't believe in god at all. But for arguments sake say I did, if god had a plan for everyone then he intended for people to invent things. So then everything in the world that happened good or bad, are all the stuff he planned to happen.

Now because I'm not into god or anything like that, I'm all for it. Why not help babies come to full term.
