Can I just pump?!

Ftm here and I have a question. I really want my baby to get the benefits of breast milk, that and the obvious of saving money over formula. But I really have zero desire to actually breast feed. Is it possible to just pump from the get go and not breast feed?

From what I understand, the pump won't drain your milk as well as your baby so your milk supply might not last as long. Milk production is based on supply and demand. If the pump isn't removing your milk then your body won't work as hard to produce more.

I my personal experience, I hated pumping!! It's boring, it's lonely, it's time consuming, and it's a lot of work. Breastfeeding did not come naturally to me at all! But I was able to keep it up for 9 months and I really enjoyed it while it lasted. I was sad to stop. I don't know if it's something women look forward to with their first baby. I know I didn't.

If you don't want to breast feed there is nothing wrong with formula though! Aside from it being expensive...

I exclusively pumped for a year due to my baby not nursing. The beginning is a lot of work but it gets easier. I responded well to the pump and actually was producing quite a bit of milk. I have a full deep freezer filled with milk that my baby is getting even after I stopped pumping.

You can do it it just takes more work than breastfeeding. My sister in law did it for a few weeks just to make sure baby got colostrum and some other benefits but she stopped around 5-6 weeks cus it was so time consuming. 
I pumped for a few days cus my son wouldn't latch at first and it was just stressful because it seemed hard to get colostrum out that way and felt like it took longer for my milk to come in. I would breastfeed for like a few days if I was you and then start pumping.

Definitely. I think it may be harder bc there's more steps involved than just putting baby on your breast, but totally doable.

It is possible. You might have to supplement for the first few days bc the first milk, the colostrum is hard to get out with a pump. Even if you don't gat anything at first, you still have to stimulate your breasts 8 times a day (every 3-5 hours) to build up a supply. Much easier just to latch the baby.

I exclusively pumped for months after I went back to work, it takes a lot of dedication and time but it's doable. Definitely do your research on it ☺️
