So my first baby I used the medela. And it did great.... after I returned it 4 times. No lie. I had numerous pumps that would not suck correctly. So medela had to upgrade me (for free) to the Pump in style one. Then it was all groovey.

Second baby I switched to the spectra s2 and love it so much more than my medela. It's much more gentle. Feels much more like your baby nursing. It is hospital grade which increases your milk production. What would take me 20 minutes to pump with my medela takes me 10 minutes with my spectra. Now down side. Spectra is new. So there aren't as many parts for it. I use 32 mm flanges and spectra doesn't make them so I had to buy conversion parts so my medela parts worked with my spectra. Was only a few bucks but can be a bit of a issue for some women.

I have never tried the Medela but i have the spectra and i love it! It has great suction but somehow it does it in a way that doesnt hurt, it has a built in light on the handle, its not specifically for travel but i take it to work and it works just fine for me. Its not too big or too small. Its not overly noisy. Easy to use and clean. I use the kiinde system with it and there's really not much else i could ask for.
