Trying to conceive at 40 and I'm a married lesbian

Hi I'm 40 years old and just started this baby making process. My process is definitely not the same as many on the women on here since I'm a lesbian and we are using a anonymous donor from California Cyro sperm bank. My first step was last month going to the doctor to have a sonogram to make sure i was still ovulating.  I was! 2nd step is now that my menstrual came today I have to go to the doctor Thursday to have blood work done to check my hormone levels and next week I go for the HSG test where they put the blue dye in you to see if your Fallopian tubes are blocked or not... Il get the test results back a week after that if all is good I have to start charting my ovulation which is all so confusing. I'm using Clearblue digital ovulation kit, a basal thermometer, a paper chart, and this app .... Any thing else I need to know and can you explain figuring out when is the day I'm ovulating.... Since each vial is $617 we don't want to waste it and have it placed on the wrong day :/
