How do you feel about societies views on reproduction?

What do you feel needs to be changed?

Answer

I think society needs to stop demonizing people who choose not to be parents. My choice is not an affront to anyone who chooses to be a parent- it's just the choice my husband and I made together. We don't wake up in the morning and wonder, "Gee, how can I offend people who have kids today?" Parenthood is a commendable choice, but so is remaining childfree.

They're awful. I don't even know where to start, this is such a open ended question.

How about the age factor? No one likes the thought of "babies having babies", but if my life were different, I would have finished having kids before I was 20. My reasoning is our anatomy, growth patterns and average life spans. I'm not saying below 17 is a good idea, the body's still growing a lot, but around 18-23 years you're the most balanced at bouncing back from a pregnancy and being able to grow. If I had been able to do this, my kids would be out of the house by time I was about 40. Leaving me with enough time to go out and do more, before becoming old enough travel and certain activities are more difficult. Society wants us to do this backwards, which even effects the rate of pregnancy. It's so much easier for the average woman to get pregnant early than in her 30s-40s. It's hilarious that we used to marry out kids off at 14 not all to long ago. But, I know the main reason aside from reckless opinions is financial issues. Idk, this is a enormous factor for me because I really want to travel while I'm young enough to enjoy it. Combined with everything thing else that seems backward, I really contemplated not having kids at all.
