Ovulate early test early?

Meg • Wed, Mar 04 • 31 y.o. 1mmc at 12 weeks and 2nd pregnancy

Hi all, this is my first go round and was wondering if I ovulated on day 13 of my cycle would it be appropriate to test before my af by 2-3 days? If you did were you successful/accurate or was it a bfn until after you are late. (Hope this makes sense...)
