HPT and Blood test?

If I've tested positive multiple times with a hpt and the lines were dark each time, is it still necessary to get a blood test? Is it possible I'm not pregnant? First timer here. Any advice helps. My last cycle was 5 weeks and 3 days ago.

When you go in for your first ultrasound they will have you do blood work just to make sure your levels are rising. :)

I never had the confirmation blood test. When I first went to my OB, they took a urine sample for confirmation, but also took blood work to actually HCG levels since I was spotting. They told me they normally wouldn't even bother with that, but since I was spotting we all wanted to make sure they were rising properly.

It depends on your history and the office you go to.  I didn't have confirmation with either of my pregnancies.  Just hpts and a viability scan with my second.

Call your doctor and ask. I didn't do it with either pregnancy. I started taking prenatals right away and made my first appt for 8-10wks (:
