9-Week Gender Screening?

I have a couple friends that had babies recently that say it's an option to get a blood screening done at 9 weeks to find out the gender. I want to do this screening but I'm wondering how accurate it is and how many people have found out the gender this way? Both my friends' screenings were accurate!

I've heard it's very accurate and what the test actually is is genetic testing that tests chromosomes for abnormalities and differenr syndromes and you just happen to find out the sex through the test though be prepared for other results too it doesn't just look at the gender. Also not sure if you know it's typically not covered by insurance you would have to check with your insurance some people can have to pay up to 1000 for it.

It's over 99% accurate. But the test isn't usually covered by insurance unless you're high risk or 35+ so it can cost thousands.
Unless you actually need the test (it's actual purpose isn't to find out the gender, it tests for down syndrome and other things) you should just wait. I found out the gender at my 14 week ultrasound anyways. It's not too long of a wait

I assume they have NIPT testing, non-invasive perinatal testing or something like that.  It is a genetic test so very accurate.  Its purpose is to screen for trisomy disorders like Down's syndrome, sex is a bonus.  Depending where you are from the cost will vary and whether insurance will cover it.  I got it done (Australia) and cost $450AU.
