Zoloft during pregnancy
I am hoping to get some reassurance here. I have had antenatal depression since early in pregnancy and insomnia causes by anxiety has been a killer. I've been seeing a counselor that specializes in those feelings in pregnancy and it has been helpful for depression and I've noticed a huge improvement in that area but my anxiety is only getting worse. I didn't sleep for two days and yesterday my anxiety was so awful from being sick with a upper respiratory infection and not sleeping that I went to the hospital twice and called my regular ob twice AND my counselor. I felt completely out of control like I was just totally crazy. I've never had anxiety before like that. So my doctor prescribed Zoloft and told me to only take it before bed. I did for the first time last night and it gave me terrible tremors for about 30 mins to an hour after taking it - but it did calm me down alot and I eventually felt good enough to sleep for the first time in days. It was peaceful relaxing sleep and it was amazing. However the tremors concerns me. I've thought about going down to 25mg instead of 50mg. My doctor said I should give it another chance before going down on it because the tremors could've been partially caused by just not sleeping and stress. I am hoping to hear from others that have taken Zoloft during pregnancy. I'm 23 weeks. Im just very concerned about how it will effect my baby although I know 1) it's the safest antidepressant during pregnancy and 2) the anxiety and stress I have without the medication is much worse on the baby. But still you hear about birth defects (though I'm already in the clear as I've had my anatomy scan) and withdrawal on the baby etc and it makes you nervous. Has anyone else taken Zoloft 50mg and had a great outcome?
