"Dear White People" Why are people so mad about this show?

I'm trying to understand why people are mad at the show. And if you use the double standard thing in can tell you we have dear black people everyday of our lives. I haven't watch the show yet but from what I heard they do have a part where she brings up black people

If they're mad about it then they haven't watched it. If you watch it, it shows both sides of white and black people.

They clearly haven't watched it. I was crying during Reggies episode. It's a powerful piece that I think everyone should watch.

I havent watched it yet but plan to and I watched someone explain a bit if it to me before it came out so I'm quite interested... but when I saw it come up on Netflix my initial thought was "man they should have named it something else just because a lot of ppl will judge on the name"

Where did you see that there are people mad about the show? I'm white, I saw a preview and it looks good. When I'm done with the shows I'm watching now, I'm going to start on this one. I've only heard good things. I can't imagine why somebody would be upset about it. Maybe a troll. I could see trolls having a hay day with it.  Trolls love anything to do with race.

On a side note, do I need to watch the movie first? Can anyone tell me this?

Love this show! It is so nice to see some reality!  Life is never cut and dry, good and bad, this or that.  It's like a big smack upside the head for those that reflexively think that your skin tone means you are a certain type of person or fit into a certain mold.   I think those that hate it either haven't seen it or feel threatened/life is unfair/how come they can do it and i can't? Etc.

The show is very well done.  I haven't seen the movie yet but am hooked on this.
