My best friend was in an abusive relationship for two years. We all tried to help her get out of it but she thought she was in love. It was all around toxic. When they FINALLY brought in the APD to talk to the juniors and seniors about dating violence, that's when she realized it really was toxic. I wish she had been better informed sooner and left sooner but she didn't think he was "that bad" because he didn't beat her.

Yes, because that is where it all starts. If they are in an abusive relationship when they are teens, then they will probably think it's normal when they are older and not know how to (1) get out of the relationship (2) know how to see symtoms or (3) even acknowledge that it's happening

I was in an abusive relationship in high school. If I knew the warning signs ahead of time I would've left a lot sooner, before I got really attached.
