delayed cord cutting-what is it?

Keep seeing people talking about delayed cord cutting. Never heard of it before, what is it? Why do people want to do this? Pros and cons?x

Delaying cutting the cord until it stops pulsating is very beneficial to baby & mom. It provides the baby with stem cells & blood. It also helps for the placenta to be delivered smoothly and intact which prevents hemmoraging for the mother. There are more benefits but these are noteworthy to me. Don't let them clamp & cut the cord until it stops pulsating.

When a baby is born 1/3 of their blood volume is still in the placenta. If you cut the cord immediately it's equal to a pretty serious hemorrhage.You can google it to get the full list of benefits :)

I think sometimes it makes babies more prone to jaundice, but don't quote me on that.

It gives more blood to the baby. So anemic babies may have a big boost from it. It also helps premies in a number of ways.

In permies it's supposed to help them have an iron boost/blood boost to help them out a bit and increase circulation in some areas.

I'm not sure if there's any cons honestly.The benefits aren't  astounding but any little bit helps.
