When Are you Taking your Maternity Leave?

I'll be 39+3 weeks. But if nothing happens soon I may pick up a shift 2-3x each week until I see progress. The issue is i work 12 hour shifts and they're getting harder and harder on my body, but no cervical progress or any labor signs so I don't want to waste 2 weeks of maternity leave for nothing if baby isn't here.

My work has a great maternity leave policy (compared to other US companies) where in coordination with disability and salary continuation I can start my leave at 36 weeks, then have 18 weeks after that (6 of which is unpaid though). In total I'll have about 5 1/2 months off...still not enough though 😕

Since I'm going to be a SAHM after the baby is born I will be taking "prenatal leave" at about 36 weeks. But if you're a working woman I would recommend as close to the due date as possible. Both my coworkers worked until the day their water broke. Kindof funny story actually considering we work in a restaurant lol
