Where is the "What ever works best for you and baby" option? That's my vote

Before baby I was anti-pacifier, but after baby I'm definitely pro-pacifier. My daughter isn't dependent on it, but there are times that she needs it to soothe herself. Whatever works best for you and your baby. Why Isn't that an option?

My babies stop taking the Pacifier at 8mos but here's a silly picture of them with it

I actually had several nurses tell me that they recommend pacifiers especially at bedtime because it reduces the risk of sids.

It's more an issue when they are old enough to start forming words. It will prevent proper speech development and the ability to express themselves. Kills me to see 4 yr olds with a pacifier plugging their speech hole.

Daughter used to use it all the timesince the day she was born now she's 4mos she'd rather use her fingers which is fine by me I don't have to give it back 10 times a night

I'm not a massive fan but if they use them to help get to sleep and that's all I'm fine with it. Our daughter has it as she goes to sleep and then it plops out once she is asleep. She doesn't depend on it thankfully.. I. This pic she's sooooo close to falling asleep. Lol

This can vary so much from child to child. Our 2 1/2 year old never used one once. He never had any need for one. Our 9 week old in the other hand needs one at least a few times a day or she's screaming her head off.
