Evening primrose oil?

Has anyone had any experience with taking Evening primrose oil as a means to help bring on labor? And if so, what were your experiences with it? I know it doesn't INDUCE labor, but I've heard that it can naturally help with your cervix ripening...

I started taking 1 x 1000mg a week or so ago. Now I'm 37 weeks I may up the dose, and include a vaginal one. 
I read such mixed information on EPO.

I'm taking 4 1000 mg capsules daily.
2 in the morning. 1 at night and I insert 1 vaginally. I've only been doing it since I hit 38 weeks 4 days ago, but I see my doctor at 39 weeks and I will see if I made any progress. Last visit I was still closed and she said it wasn't soft at all so we will see.

I started taking 2 orally daily about 4 days ago. I'm 36+2 and will start to insert one vaginally at 38 weeks. I also drink 2 cups of red raspberry leaf tea daily. Fingers crossed it all works!
