Can anyone offer tips about night weaning?
At my son's 9 month checkup, his pediatrician stated that it would be ok for him to go all night without eating. We didn't feel quite ready to wean at that time since he was still trying to get the hang of solids. I intend to breastfeed up until age 1 but would really like to wean shortly after.
My son is now 10 months old and is taking 3 solid meals a day so I've recently decided to give night weaning a try. We did sleep train him, and he can fall asleep on his own around 8pm but is still waking twice a night to nurse. He wakes up pretty consistently around 1am and 5am so I'm thinking he associates nursing with falling back asleep. I'm trying to break the association by trying to comfort him in other ways before I offer the breast. Usually he will have been crying for at least 10 minutes before I go in to check on him. I've been trying to gradually nurse him for fewer minutes during the night. My husband has also attempted check ins to comfort him, but my son seems to cry even louder because I think he just wants to nurse. Can anyone offer any tips?
Has anyone attempted to wean their baby from night feeds? If so, how is/was your experience?
Thank you in advance for sharing :)
