I am wondering about antibiotic use during pregnancy. I get recurrent UTIs and was prescribed by a urologist one 250 mg dose of cephalexin to take every time I have intercourse. This works wonderfully and I haven't gotten a UTI in over two years. Now I am pregnant and my husband does not want me taking the antibiotic because there is not enough scientific research to prove that there will be no effect on my baby. I'm afraid if we have sex and I don't take the pill, I will get a UTI and have to take even more of the antibiotic. Cephalexin is a class B drug and I know it is considered safe and is the antibiotic of choice for pregnant women. I know all of this. I would like to know if anyone has any additional information.
