My husband and I moved to a new city about 4 years ago and made some fun casual friends. Mostly go out for drinks buddies because my husband works in the beer industry, it's a beer city, and I happen to love going out for drinks and casual convo with people. We haven't really made many close friends though, the kind you can call last minute and ask if they want to meet up and go shopping or go for a walk in the park or whatever.  I miss the easy almost family like connections I used to have before moving and I haven't figured out how to make new ones.  My best friend who lives several states away told me I need to go on friend dates and that yes some would be terrible but she's always been great at this. We wouldn't even be friends if she hadn't actively pursued me.
