kicked out for clothing!!

Christine
I'm 24 weeks today and decided before heading to the gym today that instead of wearing a baggy shirt, I would wear a workout shirt that shows my bump for the first time since I became pregnant. This is just a standard underarmor black shirt with black yoga/workout pants. Nothing that showed skin or was inappropriate. 15 minutes into my workout (just riding a bike), I noticed an older woman pointing in my direction and looking all angry. I didn't think much about it, until the "manager" came over and told me that my clothing was "inappropriate" and making other "members very uncomfortable." I was shocked. Confidence drained that the first time I wear a tighter shirt that I am making other patrons upset and uncomfortable?!?
I was told that I needed to change or leave. I was pretty mad at this point and said I'd love to talk to the person who is body shaming a pregnant mother. I was told that I was overreacting and to "calm the hell down." I calmed down by canceling my gym membership and leaving a message for the general manager. I live in a small beach town and usually establishments are very family friendly, but I was so embarrassed by the way it was handled and how no matter what I said, I was some awful person. I was told that my "outfit wasn't appropriate for a woman in my condition and could lead to unwanted attention." WTF?!? It's workout clothes.
Did I overreact? Is my outfit inappropriate for the gym?
***Update***
THANK YOU so much for the support and kind words. You all made me feel so much better and I absolutely love how all of you awesome warrior women were ready to pick up pitchforks and storm the castle with me. Not that this story is the end of the world, but I thought I'd update you. The GM called today and couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic. He said the employee that asked me to leave was not a manager at all and that he was repermanded and would be undergoing retraining. The GM spoke to a trainer who witnessed the whole thing and the trainer totally took up for me and was very clear that I was not inappropriately dressed and said the woman who complained and the employee were way out of line, especially in regards to how I was spoken to. He offered to comp both my husband and I a free month of membership and 6 personal training sessions to rejoin and accept their sincere apologies. I declined, but was polite and did appreciate the apology. He seemed sincerely upset that this happened. I know in this area, year long gym memberships are important to keep the gyms going in the off season when the tourists aren't visiting the beach, so the best way to prove my point is to give my money to another establishment. Last night, a handful of my friends and my husband's workout buddies also cancelled so I do feel bad about that after the GM was so nice about everything today. But, it is what it is and was done in the heat of the moment. Oh well. There's a few other gyms in the area and we'll join one of those. Hopefully, they keep the crotchety old people at bay. Thanks again!!!
YOU LADIES ARE THE BEST!
