Epidural?

So I had an almost drug free labor with my daughter but after I had her my back was so sore I could t hold her for months and months. I have a back injury from 6 years ago and the pain was gone until I had her. Some people are telling me that maybe something happened during labor and to try an epidural this time around to relax and maybe not pull muscles and what not from stress. I haven't talked to my doctor yet because I'm only 8 weeks but I want to hear what some if you may think about going with the epidural after an injury and having chronic back pain.
