Would you let your older child in the delivery room?

So my son is 11. He will be 12 by the time i have my baby girl. My son keeps asking if he can be in the room when I deliver. Im not really comfortable with the idea of it. Has anyone ever had their older son in the room? Would you consider it?

Yeah, just make sure he understands what's gonna happen in that room.

No way. If my girl was dead set on it, id make her watch some videos first so she knows what to generally expect. But i dont want her there in the future because in the event of an emergency i dont want her to panic and be scared and upset. 
She can wait at home with the grandparents.

My brother was 12 when I was born. He wasn't in the hospital room, but he got to see the video tape of my birth at home. He used to rewind it and put me back in. If you wanna record it you could do that and let him watch the video if you're more comfortable?

I feel like if he wants to? He's ready to be there and he can just be up by your head! But if you aren't comfortable with it just try to explain to him why and I'm sure he will understand :)

I was 14 when my mom had my sister. She made me record. It was gross and i hated it lol

All three of my brothers were in the room when I was born. They were 15-19 years old.

I feel like I'll run into this same problem with my SO's children... honestly I don't think I would mind it though. I wouldn't have the 10 or 11 yo there because I don't feel like they would be comfortable. But I would let my SO's 15 yo and 21 yo watch if they wanted to (I'm not going to suggest it because we have a limited number of spots in that room and I want my SO and mom there). It's a little weird because they're not my biological kids and we've only known each other a little over a year but I love those kids and I'd be happy to have them watch their sibling be born. Around 10-12 yo I think there's just way too much confusion about the topic still. They don't know much about those organs and it's hard to explain what exactly is happening. I think the experience would make their world flip... Definitely explain first and have your son watch a video or two before he makes his final decision.
With that being said, my sisters were at the hospital when I was being born (the youngest is 12 years older than me) but they were hanging out in the waiting room during delivery. There's apparently a funny story about right after I was born, one of them ran into a wall after taking a drink from a water fountain because she was excited and wanted to meet me. 😂
