FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION is not equivalent to male circumsion.
Female genital mutalation is not comparable to male circumsision. To make that comparison is to shift focus away from a very real humanitarian problem.
FGM is cutting off a large part of the labia, and sewing it shut for the future husbands pleasure. EVERY girl that has had it performed faces a lifetime of pain and problems during intercourse, peeing, and monthly periods. The health and safety of these girls is not taken into consideration at all.
The fact is that the pain and complications most boys who have circumcisions, even in the same cultures and sanitary conditions as where most FGM procedures occur, is significantly disproportionate to the pain and complications young girls face. A day, a week at most in the worse of conditions with no effect on sex life vs, a lifetime.
The practice exist solely as a way to make women subjectible to men.
This is not a pro male circumcision post. The only point I am making is unless the penis is cut in half with the balls sewed together over the ureathra, it is not comparable.
