Baby showers.....

Is it OK for a mother-to-be to throw her own baby shower? And it be co-ed, not just for ladies? Not everyone I know, knows each other and they are all spread out across the state. I feel like it would be better of I threw my own so I can communicate with everyone so no one is left out unintentionally. My fiance, his brother and his best friend also want to be involved.

Also, when is the best time to have the baby shower? After you know the gender obviously but how close to the actual due date?

Who should be invited? Only closest friends and family... Or anyone really.
