Newborns: Cribs vs Bassinets - Help!

So I'm wondering opionions on putting your newborn straight in the crib as opposed to a bassinet or cosleeper. I've had friends who've done both and I'm struggling with what to do. Some friends said that their child went straight to the crib from the hospital and everything went fine, others went the bedside route then moved to the crib in three months.  Please share your thoughts!
