Down Syndrome 💙💛

Bonnie
Week 23 and I finally popped! At week 19 we had our ultrasound and found 2 serious markers for DS. We did genetic testing and on my birthday received a call, baby tested positive. Far more concerned for the heart surgery that will be in baby's first year. I'm shocked there is no one speaking about expecting or just having a DS baby on this site. I think the community of this app is so negative people just walk away feeling it's too personal to share. I read a woman say to another "you reallly need to think of your options! Do you really want to be taking care of a 50 year old?!" I shutter to think what options she meant. This is ignorance. DS does affect IQ but many go on to live full adult lives. Some marry and even have their own children. There is no set intelligence on DS, like all humans we're all different. Walk away from your fears and negative and link into DS communities so easily available now through the internet. You'll learn you're apart of "The lucky Few" club! Learning is an emotionally rollercoater but that's normal. You'll love your special little one. We are blessed and excited to meet this little person! I hope other mothers find some comfort in this, if they are searching here. You're in the wrong place! But I hope this message puts a little joy in your heart! God has blessed you! It's ok to be happy! It's ok you have to processes the sad. Go find those other mothers! ❤️ You will be ok! Posted May 2017 Thank you so much for your overwhelming amount of support. So many posts I can't even keep up. For mother's in the same position please check out a blog called Cedars Story as well as just putting in Down Syndrome into Instagram search and connect with other mothers. Your pain and fears are valid!
