How to lie and get on maternity leave early?

Before you judge just listen. My boss is my MIL. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and while I'm entitled to leave now she won't let me and guilt trips me making me feel like a terrible mother to be when I ask for time off.

It sounds terrible but she only believes me when I say the info came from my midwife. And while technically my midwife didn't say I need to stop working I need a little white lie I can tell so I can finally relax before baby.

Umm you're 38 weeks pregnant, probably uncomfortable and just want to relax while waiting for your baby. Tell her I can't do this anymore I'm so sorry. Has she not found a replacement for your maternity leave yet? Don't let her guilt trip you into anything! You deserve to relax a bit 😊

My bosses were horrible during my first pregnancy. I had such terrible morning sickness that I lost 20 lbs. but they still harassed me about it, suggesting I just needed to put in a little make up and I'd feel better.

Then, because I didn't show until 7 1/2 months, they began to treat me like I was lying about being pregnant!

I set up my maternity leave for 2 weeks before my due date, though they argued with me that "the baby will be late because it's the first".  My daughter was 3 days early.

Taking some time for you to enjoy the last few weeks of your pregnancy and relax is being a GOOD mother. Shame on your selfish MIL for the guilt trips.

Turn the tables on her! Start laying on the guilt back!!

After 37 weeks baby can come anytime so I would wanna be home too! Just be honest and tell her that you need to get things finalized before baby comes and you need the time to just take a breath before life gets a little crazy with a new baby.

The problem is you're full term, so even if you were having signs of labor, at this point you're good to deliver the baby anyway so your doctor/midwife won't put you on bedrest. You could lie and say your blood pressure was high so she told you to take it easy until the birth.

Don't lie. Go to your midwife and explain that you'd like a letter stating that you are to be put on maternity leave effective immediately. Bring the letter to your boss/MIL.

Depends on the country/ state..... in canada as long as you gave your 4 weeks notice as of when your last day was, she had to honor that..... otherwise i would just say your midwife advised you that you should stop working/ slash is best for baby .....try not to get to far into the white lie lol

You need to do what's best for you! If you explain to your midwife what is happening she may even help you out by providing proof that you need time off. You deserve to get things in order and relax before your LO gets here!
