Is this a keloid??

Please excuse the really unattractive angle and the fact that you can see every single piece of peach fuzz and white heads I have on my face.
Anyway, I got my nose pierced a week ago Saturday. Now, let me tell you something. I've had plenty of piercings and all but one of them has gotten infected, so I know when a piercing is infected. I can promise you, this is not an infection. It doesn't hurt, it's not warm. It isn't all that red after I clean it. It has just seemed slightly swollen. However, a few days ago while I was cleaning it it started bleeding. Now it bleeds on and off throughout the day. I'm not sure if that could be a thing with a keloid, or if it's just simply normal for a healing nose piercing.

There is a pinned post in this group telling the difference between a keloid and a hypertrophic scar. I suggest you look at that.

But from what I see it is a hypertrophic scar which lucky for you are very easy to treat! All you gotta do is keep cleaning with sterile saline solution or whatever your piercer gave you. Also check what your piercer gave you to make sure it's nothing harmful to a piercing (sodium chloride is good, but most others aren't).

Hypertrophic scars are also very common (apparently more so on nose piercings). Did you get pierced with a hoop? Hypertrophic scars are often formed because of irritation. So check the jewelry, is it implant grade titanium or nobium? If it's silver or Sterling silver get it changed our (14k+ gold is fine).

Hoops aren't actually recommended for healing as they easily catch and move around. When it starts to heal I'd get a piercer to put in a stud just for your healing period, then you can go back tot e hoop....

no, it is not a keloid. it wouldn't form that fast! always feel free to call your piercer or go in to see them if you ever have any issues. my nose definitely did this while healing and yours is young so I wouldn't worry too much! keep it clean (with soap or saline solution, never salt, oils or alcohols), and don't touch or move it. it should go down on its own
