homebirth insurance payment stress
Ok this may be a very individual circumstance but figured it cannot hurt to reach out here. We are planning a home birth with a cpm. The one we have fallen in love with is $3000 for prenatal, birth and 6 weeks of pp care. We spoke with our insurance and she is out of network and they will pay 70%🙌🎉🎉🎉. We had our official meeting with the midwife yesterday and she does not bill insurance and needs us to pay out of pocket and then after birth will do a write up for us to attempt reimbursement through our insurance. So we thought we would be paying $900 but now it's the full $3000 with hopeful 70% reimbursement. I know this is still a fabulous deal but, we are broke. We live paycheck to paycheck and the $900 was going to be hard honestly. Is there any loopholes im missing. Is it crazy to get proof that she WILL be paid from insurance and to ask her to pleaseeee directly bill them? I am just going crazy trying to figure out how to do this without having to skip meals. A hospital birth is more expensive and not an option for us. There is a birth center in town that we used last birth and do not want to use again. Any advice is helpful!! Any ideas are helpful!! I'm determined to make this work
